The modern take on existence could well be, ‘You are the air you breathe’ by Monitoring air quality .As societies notch up higher degrees of modernisation, one of the fallouts is the quality of natural elements that are in danger of being affected therefore monitoring air quality key to people’s welfare is required. Water, air and land have borne the brunt of mankind’s post-industrial progress and in many cities across the world, air quality is a cause of deep concern. In proposing a UAE-wide air quality network that will regularly analyse the state of the environment, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has addressed an important urban issue that lies at the core of people’s well-being.

Poor quality air, due to industrial or traffic pollution, can lead to a host of illnesses and diminish an individual’s quality of life, as has been shown by research on many mega cities of the world that have an alarming rate of pollutants in their air. Monitoring, and improving, air quality on a regular basis is crucial for a healthy society. In proposing this network, UAE reiterates its commitment to the welfare of its people and ensures its environmental goals are on track.
